STATE OF THE ART FORMULA

1. Di Arginine Malate
Di Arginine is a novel substrate featuring 2 molecules of L-Arginine bound to malic acid. Arginine is necessary for the execution of many physiological processes. These physiological processes include hormone secretion, an increase in growth hormone output, the removal of toxic waste products from the body, and immune system defenses.

Arginine has been proven to support Nitric Oxide production. Nitric Oxide is a free form gas that is produced in the body and is used by the body to communicate with other cells in the body. Cell signaling may stimulate protein synthesis and glucose storage in muscles, hence "the pump".

The production of Nitric Oxide occurs when the aminoacid L-Arginine is converted into L-Citrulline through an enzyme group known as Nitric Oxide Synthase (NOS) which is responsible for vasodiolation. The fact that nitric oxide increases blood flow should make it of interest to bodybuilders, as increased blood flow will serve to deliver more nutrients to muscles, thus helping muscles become larger when subject to stress. Nitric Oxide has also been shown to reduce inflammation and pain associated with subjecting muscles to intense workloads.

Who needs it and what are some symptoms of deficiency?
Everyone REQUIRES nitric oxide to carry out key physiological processes within the body. From a bodybuilder's perspective, nitric oxide supplementation may prove useful in increasing growth due to increases in blood flow to certain areas of the body. Signs of deficiency include the inability to achieve and sustain erections, physical weakness and extreme fatigue and therefore increasing nitric oxide may be helpful.

Most "nitric oxide" supplements offered only 1 molecule of L-Arginine bound to AKG. IGNITE contains Di Arginine Malate that is made up of 2 Arginine molecules to 1 malic acid molecule, therefore more Arginine is delivered to the cells with the help of malic acid.

The benefits of Malic Acid.
Malic acid is a superior substrate to bond Arginine to, as it has numerous clinical studies supporting its use in athletic performance. malic acid is a naturally occurring intermediate in the Krebs Cycle which has numerous studies to support its role in energy production. Malic acid is the only metabolite of the Krebs Cycle which is proven to fall during exhaustive physical activity. Malic acid also stimulates uptake of other substrates in mitochondria, and supports the removal of by-products from intense training that inhibit ATP production.

2.What is citrulline malate and what does it do?

Citrulline is a non-essential amino acid and plays a role in nitrogen balance and metabolic processes. Although not a component of most proteins in the body, citrulline is found in some specialized proteins in the hair, skin and neural cells.

Supplemental Citrulline malate is a salt form of the amino acid. The malate, or malic acid, is found in fruits such as apples and enhances the effects of citrulline. Malic acid takes part in aerobic cellular respiration where oxygen and a carbon compound (acetyl Co-A) are used to produce immediate energy and CO2 in the mitochondria of the cell. This is called the Kreb's cycle. Malate conditions the recycling of lactate and pyruvate promoting efficient energy production and protecting muscles from fatigue.

Finish the job that creatine starts!
If you are taking creatine then you are only addressing half of the equation of muscle energy, recovery, and growth!!! Creatine works by supporting and enhancing the anaerobic production of energy in the muscle. Unfortunately, it does nothing to address the production of aerobic energy in the muscle. This is where citrulline malate comes in.

Citrulline malate has been shown to increase aerobic ATP production in the muscle by 34% !
The result is a marked decrease in fatigue and a substantial increase in aerobic exercise performance. Citrulline malate does this in part by stimulating the removal and utilization for energy of the lactic acid formed during anaerobic glycolysis. Citrulline malate works synergistically with creatine in another way as well. After exercise your creatine phosphate levels are depleted and it takes a while for the free creatine in your muscles to be rephosphorylated. With citrulline malate, the rate of phosphocreatine recovery after exercise is increased by 20%! This means that you recover more quickly between weight training sessions giving yourself a better opportunity to grow faster.

Citrulline malate stimulates the urea cycle and therefore markedly increases the body's ability to remove ammonia. Ammonia is a toxic metabolic by product produced by your muscles, especially during intense exercise. Ammonia is very toxic to the body and muscles; the build up of ammonia in the body results in a rapid onset of fatigue. If the levels are not reduced, they can lead to muscle catabolism and interference with brain function. Severe ammonia toxicity can lead to organ failure, and eventually death.

L Citrulline malate and it's effect on NOS levels.
Citrulline is taken up by the kidneys and other tissues and then converts back into Arginine hence increased Nitric Oxide levels. Citrulline has also shown to be more potent at reversing the negative actions of Nitric Oxide Synthase Inhibitors, which are enzymes that prevent the synthesis of Nitric Oxide.

What does this mean?
L Citrulline Malate combined with Di Arginine Malate as found in IGNITE offers the substrates to produce more NOS and suppress the enzymes that prevent re-synthesis.
